| Job Description: | Principal Transportation Planner. The Nashua Regional Planning Commission is the MPO for the Nashua, NH Metropolitan Area and is committed to providing the highest quality transportation planning services to the agency's members. The Principal Transportation Planner will take the lead in accomplishing this goal. The position reports to the Executive Director and serves as the Program Manager of the agency’s transportation planning program. Responsibilities include: Overseeing all aspects of the MPO transportation planning program and a staff of 4 transportation planners. The Principal Transportation Planner will be a member of the agency management team. The NRPC uses a team approach to management with projects being carried out by multidisciplinary teams of staff members led by the agency’s program managers. As part of that management approach, the Principal Transportation Planner will direct teams of staff members from other agency programs and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with the agency’s program managers for Smart Growth, GIS, and Land Use/Environmental planning. The Principal Transportation Planner will work closely with the Assistant Director and the Smart Growth planner to coordinate and implement land use-transportation projects. Program responsibilities include Long Range Transportation Plan, TIP, air quality conformity, travel demand modeling, traffic analysis, access management, bike/pedestrian planning, transit planning, safety planning, corridor plans, commuter rail, parking studies, project development for federal funded projects and participation in context sensitive solutions processes for regional projects. The most qualified candidates will have broad experience in all aspects of MPO transportation planning and the desire to establish a standard of excellence for transportation planning at a small MPO. The position requires a master’s degree in planning or closely related field and five years experience in MPO transportation planning and at least three in a supervisory capacity. Hands-on experience in travel demand modeling is highly desirable. Salary range: $65,000 to $80,000, depending on qualifications and experience. NRPC has an excellent benefits package.
