Issue: Transportation Security
Background: NARC will continue to work with the U.S. DOT and TSA on ways to improve transportation security at the regional and local levels. We will also work with Congress and the Administration to ensure funding, for security is indeed secure and not allocated from funds needed to build projects. NARC will also work with Congress and the Administration to help curb waste and fraud as we pursue much needed transportation security measures.
Policy Recommendations:

NARC will work with its members to understand and better address evacuation and emergency preparedness planning at the regional level and how MPOs and COGs can help to facilitate coordinated responses.

NARC will work with the Department of Homeland Security and others on ways regions can be better engaged in transportation security and make sure they have a place at the table.

NARC will work with technology applications to assist Regions in understanding the complexities of security and safety solutions.

NARC will continue to work with Congress on funding for COGs and MPOs in homeland security efforts.
