The National Association of Regional Councils (NARC), held a webinar on January 26, 2010 featuring two of NARC's 2009 Regional Centers of Excellence (RCEs), the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (Philadelphia, PA) and the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission (Green Bay, WI). Both organizations completed communication and information-sharing projects on their existing green infrastructure programs. Final reports on the 2009 RCE initiative as well as each individual RCE project can be found by following the links above.

In the webinar, the RCEs discussed ways that they integrate green infrastructure considerations into regional planning initiatives, including transportation, land use and regional food system planning, among others. The presentations focused on the RCEs challenges and successes in influencing local land-use planning and decision-making to include green infrastructure considerations, challenges regional planning organizations face when local jurisdictions have land use authority, integrating green infrastructure and transportation planning and efforts to connect green infrastructure with food system planning. The U.S. Forest Service also shared highlights on their work and national priorities for green infrastructure initiatives.
