2008 National Conference of Regions

The 2008 National Conference of Regions - "REGIONS: THE BUILDING BLOCKS TO A SUSTAINABLE NATION" is over and was a resounding success!

The conference included active participation of local elected officials and executive directors of regional councils (RCs) and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs), fascinating speakers and national experts and association partners, comprising one of the largest turnouts in the history of this event.

NARC members were given a productive forum to congregate, discuss and identify pertinent federal policy areas through open dialogue with distinguished federal policymakers, scholars and subject areas experts. This conference theme focused on issues impacting the livability and future of regions, and examined ways in which regional strategies can be successfully utilized as part of broad national policy solutions

The overall goal of the NCR was to advance regional approaches through the development of sustainable policies that represent the interests of RCs and MPOs on current and upcoming important issues. Generally, topics of interest to NARC members include transportation, economic and community development, homeland security and environment.
